The world's best cyclists make their annual visit to Hell on April 12. Paris-Roubaix..."The Hell of the North"...is infamous for the 28 sectors of cobblestones that punctuate the 259km route. Riding part of the course of the Paris-Roubaix race is something that every cyclist should experience once...and probably only once...in life. Stories of busted bikes and broken bodies are legendary at Roubaix, but if you want to get a real feel for how hard it is to ride this road, you've got to experience it for yourself. CycleTo rode through the Forest of Arenberg, the worst section of cobbles at Paris-Roubaix, with an on-board video camera. It is said that the rocks and stones of this 2,400 meter sector are like the heads of small children. As one Belgian said to me that week, "You will feel the children's heads on your ass." Clip in and come along...but hang on tight. It's going to be a bumpy ride. CycleTo will be in Europe for "Holy Week"...the Sunday-to-Sunday stretch that included the Tour of Flanders, Gent-Wevelgem and Paris-Roubaix. Look for our up-close coverage from Belgium and France beginning this weekend on CycleTo. |
